At Arrow we have founded our business on superior quality and integrity. For a little over 100 years, we have continued to carry that message into every facet of our business including our Professional Shirt Laundry. Every shirt and blouse must pass the final inspector’s question: “ Would I be proud to wear this garment?” In order to maintain that level of professionalism and consistency, Arrow believes in continual training and education. Throughout the year, Arrow brings in Liz Davies, a dry cleaning consultant, to help us with continuous process improvement on our shirt units, and re-training our shirt pressers. When Liz comes in, she works one on one with employees to improve production, technique and quality. We are always happy to see Liz come in the facility. She has an honest, hardworking approach. She comes in and asks questions to employees such as “What is going to make you more successful in doing your job?” and “What can we do to help you?” Our employees are extremely receptive. They open up and find ways to improve on their already exceptional skills. Liz has become such a valuable part of our continued education. ![]() Danny Stewart, a plant employee, recently became the first winner of Arrow’s new “Creative Suggestions” recognition incentive program. He also won a $600.00 bonus for his idea. With his suggestion for modifying the method of shutting down the boilers at night, Danny showed how employees can positively affect the bottom line at Arrow. His suggestion will save Arrow several thousand dollars per year in utility costs and also positively affect the conditions in the plant for his fellow workers. CONGRATULATIONS TO DANNY FOR HIS INGENUITY AND CREATIVITY! ![]() Niecey Cranford, an Arrow employee who works in the administrative office took up the challenge to help the people of Haiti during their dreadful plight. “I saw the stories on TV and wanted to help somehow,” she said. Niecey placed donation boxes in the employee breakroom and soon they were over-flowing with such items as toiletries, groceries and other personal items. Once filled, she arranged to have the goods delivered to Heart to Heart International, a large philanthropic organization which has its headquarters in Olathe, KS. Heart to Heart International continues to provide much needed relief to the crisis ![]() On April 25, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Marsha Jackson, an employee in our shirt laundry department heard a loud noise outside her home in midtown Kansas City. She knew it was bad because the house shook. When she ran outside all she saw was a big ball of metal. A man had crashed into a light pole and was completely crushed inside his car. She had no idea how many were even in the car at that point. Marsha immediately called 911 and remained on the line until the rescue crew arrived. At this point there seemed to be only one man in the car. She began talking to him to let him know that help was on the way and started praying until the paramedics arrived which was in about five minutes. She later found out both his arms were broken, his leg crushed, pelvis broken, and he had many broken ribs and lacerations. The man's wife said if it were not for Marsha he most likely would not have survived. He is now out of the hospital and slowly recovering. For her charitable actions, Marsha was honored on Fox 4 news on the PAY IT FORWARD program. The photograph above shows Marsha being filmed by the television station at Arrow’s Troost Counter. We applaud Marsha and we at Arrow are very proud of her. Marsha has been a dedicated employee at Arrow for 14 years. Of course the downturn in the economy has affected Arrow to some extent just like it has impacted everyone else. However, Arrow's loyal and responsive clientele has allowed us to avoid the serious downturns in business volume that has damaged others in our industry.
Rather than laying-off personnel, Arrow is in the fortunate position of being in the market for good persons in certain positions in our plant. Our human resources department needs your help. If you can recommend someone to us we'd be very grateful. Our HR specialists would love to hear from you. Please have anyone interested in more information to contact Gayle (to the left below) or Stephanie (to the right below). Working at Arrow is a good experience and good friends and colleagues can be made and cultivated there. Email: Stephanie - And many thanks. |
