HANDBAGS - FANCY LEATHERS & SHEEPSKINS

Picture
Fancy Leathers

Your shopping experiences may have led you to designer leather handbags that are "pieced" or "pierced" - both are decorative elements. Piecing simply means that the designer chose to use differently sized or colored leather pieces to create a "look." Manufacturers typically test their colors, but sometimes the color batch may fail and the color will "run" or "bleed." This can be corrected. Pierced leathers typically have small "designer holes" of varying shapes, created to achieve a lighter look or feel to your handbag. Pieced leathers can rip and stretch during cleaning and must be handled carefully.

Sheepskin

Caring for sheepskin handbags or rucksacks is best left to specialists to clean. The beauty of the "wooliness" is directly attributable to the type of care the handbag receives. It's not a job for amateurs because the hide can become hard if the wool is washed in common detergents. The type of cleaning agent makes a huge difference in the appearance of the handbag. These are only a few of the reasons to trust your leather, fur, and sheepskin handbags to a reputable leather cleaner. You may have 2 or 3 years of wear in your handbag before you get it cleaned, so think of it as an amortized cleaning cost. Money you didn't spend in those years will now be of benefit in seeing your handbag properly preserved for more years of use!
