FAQ'S - FUR

Q. How do I care for my fur?

Picture
 A. Store your fur with Arrow in the spring of each year. Have us condition, clean and glaze it while it is in storage. Under no circumstance should a fur be kept in a cedar chest or closet: such conditions will dry out the pelts and severely reduce the luster of the fur.

Q. How often should my fur be conditioned?

Picture
A.Your fur needs to be cleaned and glazed at least once a year to prevent it from drying out.  Professional fur cleaning removes dirt, keeps leather soft, and brings back the fur’s luster, thus prolonging the life of your fur.

Q. Can I store my fur at home in the closet since I have air conditioning?

Picture
  A. No. Closets are generally 10 degrees warmer than your home.

Q. What is shearling?

Picture

A. A shearling is a natural lamb pelt with the leather side often sueded and worn on the outside. Color variation and skin blemishes are common.  Shearlings often fit well with today’s casual lifestyle.

Q. Can smoke odor be removed from fur?

A. We specialize in smoke odor removal. Your coat also will be cleaned using our furrier method which both cleans and glazes the fur. Also, we offer fur appraisals if you would like to know the value, condition, age and type of mink.

Q. What time of year does my fur need to go into storage?

Picture
A. Whenever it is warm enough outside to be done wearing a fur coat for the season is when you should put it in storage

Q. Can you make alterations and repairs to my fur?

Picture
A. Yes. Arrow has a long history and a talented team that can do quality repairs and alterations to your fur.

Q. Will rain ruin my fur?

Picture
 A. A mild rain will not ruin your fur. Just hang the garment up to dry in a well-ventilated room away from direct heat. After it is dry, give the fur a vigorous shake. If your fur gets thoroughly soaked, however, contact Arrow for proper treatment.
