HANDBAGS - SELECTION & ASSEMBLY

Handbag Manufacturing is a Complicated and Precise Process
Spend just a couple of moments thinking about how your handbag was assembled. When the leather is being cut to the handbag pattern, it is likely that hides from different animals will be used for the various pieces and for anything decorative (such as fringe or rolled edges). Because different animals do not have the same life experiences, there may be weaknesses in parts of their hides. Or, the hides may need a bit of stretching to meet the pattern demands of the handbag's outer shell.
In the manufacturer's world, stretching a hide is an acceptable practice. In the leather cleaner's world, this can mean the difference between a happy customer and an angry one. The problem: when moisture is added to leather, it can distort its shape and/or shrink. This is especially true when lesser quality leathers are used in manufacturing in order to meet acceptable pricing in the marketplace.
Lesser quality leathers are known in terms of varying thicknesses, natural scarring, and other natural defects that may be covered by texturing or color. These handbags require especially careful handling.
